Right Wing item of the day.

Detroit News Online Printer-friendly article page Editorial update: Bush must deploy enough troops to win in Iraq P resident Bush only has one opportunity to fix the mess that has become Iraq. We just worry that deploying 20,000 troops -- the reported amount the president is expected to announce tonight -- won't be enough to do the job right. We are encouraged by stepped-up military efforts in the past few days. The goal should be clear: Establish order while not unnecessarily putting soldiers in harm's way. Have a specific mission and deploy enough troops to succeed. This has been a recurring theme from thoughtful U.S. senators like Republican John McCain from Arizona and independent Democrat Joe Lieberman from Connecticut, who have not cut and run when the mood of the country toward the war shifted. Their examples of honorable dissent from Bush administration policy make a mockery of knee-jerk opposition from Democratic leaders in the House and Senate. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid want to stage grandstanding but nonbinding votes on the commander-in-chief's military moves. The goal is scoring political points and withdrawing quickly from Iraq at any cost -- even if it means leaving behind a less secure Middle East and undermining American interests. If congressional leaders are going to exhibit a reckless disregard for leadership, Bush shouldn't worry about making politically palatable moves. He should call up enough soldiers to succeed. He probably won't get another chance for making corrections. I wonder whomever wrote this mess will ask their kids to join the army just to help dear leader.
