Council meeting on mayor investigation
The Detroit City Council went into closed session shortly after 1 p.m. today to discuss a proposed plan from their independent attorney on how to proceed with an investigation of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
After the meeting, Goodman is expected to file a motion in the Wayne County Circuit Court asking that the minutes of the Sept. 19 closed meeting be made public. At that meeting, the city’s Law Department met with council members to discuss a jury’s award of $6.5 million against the city in a whistleblower lawsuit brought by three former police officers against Kilpatrick and former chief of staff Christine Beatty.Earlier today, a reported “rally” to call for Kilpatrick’s resignation outside the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center appeared to be overblown when only one person showed up. Kenneth Reed said he is a member of the Institute for Public Policy and Educational Affairs, which he said has 25 members.

See I like how some people are handling this: Hansen Clarke, the guy who went up against Kwame in 2005, said he doesn't want to get in the middle of the legal proceedings. It's this level of integrity that we need to see more of in Detroit. I truly hope Hansen tries to run again for Mayor in 2009 and bring some of his character back to a city that has sorely been lacking in it for a long time.
Sorry I couldn't get back to talking to people who leave comments. As I see it I can't see how Kwame could get re elected with all this stuff hanging around him. I think the love for Kwame is fading because he's costing the city millions of dollars.
