NEWS CORP’S TIMES OF LONDON CARTOON SHOWS STARVING CHILDREN BEMOANING PHONE-HACKING SCANDAL COVERAGE

From Think Progress

A news organization’s coverage of its own egregious scandal is undoubtedly tricky. Today, News Corp. provided an example of exactly what not to do. Mediaite’s Alex Alvarez caught an editorial cartoon in the News Corp-owned Times Of London titled “Priorities” that depicts “three starving, ethnically ambiguous children sitting nude in the sand” with one “cradling his distended stomach and announcing that he has had ‘a bellyful of phone-hacking.’” While the cartoon is likely a reference to the famine in Somalia that certainly deserves attention, “publishing a tacky, potentially offensive cartoon making light of serious allegations AND life-threatening poverty” ever-so-slightly misses the mark:
Motor City Liberal Comment: This is a joke right? Since when did conservatives give a damn about starving children in Africa? They think giving people affordable health care is socialism. This is desperation on the highest degree uh don't look at us breaking the law you should care about starving children. Alright Rupert how about you write a check to save these children. BTW nice racist pic there Times of London why not have them holding Watermelon and have big red lips?
