GOV. RICK SNYDER: ONE CALLOUS NERD

By Chad/Progress Michigan

Two weeks ago we compared how Gov. Rick Snyder was performing to what he promised during his campaign. Today, we’re revisiting that comparison with some updated statistics.

When Rick Snyder was running for governor he made creating a “jobs friendly environment” and “value for money government” his top priorities. How would he achieve this? Simple: relentless positive action.
So what does relentless positive action translate to? Shifting the tax burden to seniors, gutting education funding, and giving a $1.8 billion handout to corporations.
And how is Gov. Rick Snyder doing? Well, according to his own MiDashboard and newly released employment numbers Gov. Rick Snyder is doing even worse than our last report.
Michigan’s unemployment rate has increased, again, from 10.7% to 10.9%, nearly two full points above the national average of 9.1%.

Adding insult to injury, 36% of Michigan’s children live in households with jobless parents, ranking Michigan 47th nationally.

Under Rick Snyder, Michigan’s schools are failing our children. It’s no wonder Rick Snyder spends $20,000 a year to send his youngest child to a private school. According to the Governor’s own metrics, third-grade reading proficiency has fallen from 90% to 87%. The number of Michiganders with bachelor’s degrees has fallen and is ranked 36th nationally. Infant mortality has increased from 7.6 to 7.7 deaths per 1,000 live births and Michigan now ranks 37th nationally.

Rick Snyder knew this would be hard. He knew he would have to be tough - that’s why he’s@OneToughNerd. Indeed, “relentless positive action” can solve anything... right? But, what none of us knew is how tough it would be to ask one group of Michiganders to sacrifice everything for the other, much smaller group of Michiganders. He’s not just tough, he’s callous.

SNYDER is not a nerd or a problem solver. HE IS A KILLER OF HEARTS & SOULS. There is a special place in Corporate HELL for such a FOOL!

Snyder decided it would be a good idea to gut the film industry in Michigan, when it was bringing in five dollars for every dollar spent in tax breaks for it, all because the money we made didn't go directly to the government. And now he's running what's left of it into the ground, doubtlessly because he wants to take little money is left to it and give that to big business as well. Why? Does one of the corporate fat cats he's in the pocket of decide they want a new yacht or something?
