Jon Stewart compares coverage of ‘Occupy Wall Street’ and the tea party

By David Ferguson/Raw Story

On Wednesday’s The Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a hard look at the difference between the media’s coverage of the “Occupy Wall Street” protests and the coverage of rallies by the right-wing tea party. After weeks of protests, says Stewart, the media has reset its “coverage dial” from “blackout” to “circus”, which are apparently its only two settings.
While conservative pundits like Sean Hannity were more than eager to praise and fawn over tea party demonstrators and activists, the Fox News tongue-baths have been less than forthcoming with regards to “Occupy Wall Street”. Commentators like Ann Coulter and Steve Doocy have alternately called the protesters “muddled” and totalitarian fascists, but the main message of course is true to Fox’s mission statement, i.e., “Conservatives good! Liberals bad!”
