GOP Governor Proves He’s Nowhere Near as Successful at Bringing Jobs from Asia as He Was at Sending Jobs to Asia

LANSING – Governor Rick Snyder spent the past week in Asia in an attempt to lure jobs and investment to Michigan. So how’d he do? Total number of jobs brought from China, Japan, and Korea to Michigan by Snyder: 0.

“Michigan needed Governor Snyder to return from Asia with new jobs and the promise of new investment. But all is bringing back with him is a big fat goose egg,” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer said. “Not one single job to Michigan. Obviously, Snyder isn’t nearly as good at bringing jobs to the U.S. from China, Japan, and Korea as he was at sending American jobs to China.”

“The Governor promised time and again on the campaign trail that he would turn Michigan’s economy around and help to create jobs,” added Brewer. “So far, he hasn’t created a single job and unemployment has actually risen over the past nine months. This is not what the voters were promised in 2010.”

“Maybe the Governor should start focusing on the Michigan economy,” said Brewer. “More than 11% of Michigan’s workforce is still looking for a job. It’s time Governor Snyder and the Republicans focused on putting
