Press Release
MDP Demands End to Offensive College Republican Activities
Brewer calls on Dick DeVos, Mike Bouchard and Saul Anuzis to stop their Party’s divisive, dangerous and extreme activities
LANSING –Today Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer sharply criticized the Republican National Committee, the Michigan Republican Party, Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos, U.S. Senate candidate Mike Bouchard and other Republicans across the state for condoning the U of M College Republicans for hosting “Catch an Illegal Immigrant” day and “Fun with Guns” day. “Fun with Guns” day has College Republicans simulating shooting real people such as Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. John Kerry. “Catch an Illegal Immigrant” day has a student pose as an immigrant and hide while other students try to catch that student for prizes. Morgan Wilkins, a paid College Republicans National Committee staffer, was the organizer behind these appalling events.
“The party of Dick DeVos, Mike Bouchard, Saul Anuzis and President Bush has become so extreme and so right-wing that they are now supporting events simulating shooting real people and glorifying hunting human beings. Where is their outcry? Anuzis has removed College Republican leaders before and we demand he does it again. Republicans through out the state should publicly condemn the U of M College Republicans for their offensive and inexcusable actions,” Brewer stated. “These events are hurtful, mean-spirited and dangerous. I never would have dreamed that a state party-sponsored organization would be simulating the death of Democratic leaders. Their divisive actions are snowballing out of control and who knows what they will do next? These types of actions are the reason why voters across the country are abandoning Republican candidates and are turning toward a positive Democratic alternative.”
Precedent exists for the Michigan Republican Party to take action against College Republicans. Saul Anuzis removed Ryan Cassin from the Michigan College Republican Federation according the Grand Rapids Press.

I have an idea for the College Republicans instead of Fun with Guns day how about sign up for the army day then they can have fun with guns day everyday in Iraq. But the downside for them will be the other side will be firing back at them.
