Limbaugh: Michelle Obama shows ‘uppity-ism’

By Andrew Jones/Raw Story

Another day, another unfortunate statement made by Republican radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
On his radio show Monday afternoon, the controversial conservative firebrand supported someNASCAR fans booing Michelle Obama this past weekend, labeling the first lady a racial tinged adjective.
“We don’t like paying million of dollars for Mrs. Obama’s vacations,” he said. “The NASCAR crowd doesn’t quite understand why when the husband and the wife are going to same place, the first lady has to take her own 757 with family and kids and hangers-on four four hours earlier than her husband, who will be on his own 747. NASCAR people understand that’s a little bit of a waste. That’s a little bit of uppity-ism.”

As commonly known across America, “uppity’s” meaning carries a heavy racial overtone, which asserts that African-Americans are acting arrogantly or are speaking above their station. Limbaugh never used the term to describe former First Ladies Hillary Clinton’s or Laura Bush’s trips.
This isn’t the first time Limbaugh has labeled the Obamas the polarizing term however. Back in February, Limbaugh also accused President Obama of being “uppity.” Fellow radio host Glenn Beck supported Limbaugh’s comments, saying “a little uppity, a little snotty.”
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden attended the NASCAR Sprint Cup finale in support of a jobs program for military veterans.
