Conservative radio host Glenn Beck complained Tuesday that CNN’s Piers Morgan was portraying gun rights advocates as crazed maniacs by inviting Alex Jones on his show.
“Piers Morgan is trying to have gun control,” Beck said. “He is trying to make everybody who has guns and who believes the Second Amendment to be a deterrent to an out of control government look like a madman. So now he immediately books the madman and makes him look like a conservative.”
During the interview on Monday night, Jones berated Morgan for nearly 15 minutes. Jones warned “1776 will commence again” if anyone tries to take Americans guns and told Morgan he was a “hatchet man of the New World Order.” At one point, Jones even challenged Morgan to a boxing match.
Beck insisted that Jones was not a conservative. He described Jones as “spooky” and said the conspiracy theorist had built “a mountain of deceit.”
Beck explained that the media was trying to make it look as if every conservative who opposed gun control was crazy like Jones. He said the media had tried a similar tactic with Ted Nugent, but failed because Nugent was “way too smart” and “charming.”
“CNN and Piers Morgan is not stating your best interest. They do not — he does not understand nor does he condone the Second Amendment. He doesn’t understand the founding of our country. He is not for man ruling himself,” Beck remarked.
