Comedian rips Mark Sanford: South Carolina has bottomless supply of duplicitous teabags

By Eric W. Dolan/Raw Story
Comedian and political commentator John Fugelsang viciously mocked Mark Sanford on Tuesday after the former Republican governor was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
In a faux South Carolina Board of Tourism message, Fugelsang proclaimed “our bottomless supply of duplicitous double-talking political teabags” as the state’s top attraction. He cited Strom Thurmond, Lindsey Graham, Joe Wilson, Jim DeMint, and Andre Bauer as examples.
“And nowhere are our values more evident than in the political resurrection of former governor and newly elected congressman and deeply repentant Christian Mark Sanford,” Fugelsang continued, “who South Carolina voters have returned to the House of Representatives where he previously served three terms.”
He noted that Sanford voted to impeach Bill Clinton over his extramarital affair, only to have his own well-publicized affair a years later. Fugelsang also blasted Sanford for seeking to block stimulus funds for his own state while using taxpayer funds for his family vacations.
“But he did the right thing. He told us that Jesus forgave him, and said mean things about Nancy Pelosi and Obamacare, proving that it’s OK to be a horrible Christian, as long as you’re a good Christian,” he said.
“Our politicians believe Darwin was wrong, and we here in South Carolina are here to prove it,” Fugelsang concluded.
