Michelle Malkin freaks out, calls Juan Williams ‘snotty’ in heated ‘Hannity’ exchange

Blogger and “Twitchy.com” proprietor Michelle Malkin and Fox News political analyst Juan Williams engaged in a spirited bit of back-and-forth on Wednesday night’s edition of Fox News’s, “The Sean Hannity Show.”

During a discussion of revelations about the cyber warfare program against Iran, Malkin accused Williams of being mired in the prosecution of the Bush administration’s crimes.

“All you can do, Juan, is say ‘Plame, Plame, Plame,’” she said in a mocking baby-talk voice, “‘Blame, blame, blame, Bush, Bush, Bush.’”

Williams countered, “I tell you what, Michelle, I’m a real reporter, not a blogger out in the blogosphere somewhere.”

Malkin can be heard guffawing as he finishes the statement, and from there, the discussion went off the rails into an eye-rolling, scowling, sulk-off between the two pundits. As Williams asserted that no confidential information had been given away in the discussion of the Obama administration’s cyber-offensive against Iran, Malkin railed that Williams is no more a real reporter than she is, and reeled off a long string of anti-Eric Holder talking points.

Currently, the Attorney General is either obviously guilty of high crimes against his office and the nation and is going to be unseated any day or he’s merely the latest liberal bogeyman to be singled out for an hysterical Fox News witch hunt, depending upon whom you ask. Republicans havecalled for his resignation in the wake of what they feel to be the criminal mishandling of “Fast and Furious,” an operation intended to stop the flow of illegal guns across the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

Hannity gave Malkin the last word, which she used to further heap opprobrium at Williams’s feet.

“The American people,” — which, in the highly codified language of Fox pundits, generally means “Me, myself and I,” — “are sick of the kind of snotty condescension from liberal elite journalists like Juan Williams who tell us that the rest of us are not doing our jobs, when the point is that when Eric Holder was shamefully approved and nominated and approved to be Attorney General.”

Williams rolled his eyes to heaven and mouthed “Oh, my god,” before informing the glowering Malkin that she was “way off topic.”

Malkin replied, “So ‘real journalists’ are apologists for corrupt-ocracy?”

Williams threw up his hands and shook his head in frustration as the segment ended. No wonder he’s been telling people that hemisses working at NPR “big time.”

Preemptive Malkin attack helped progressive book’s sales surge

WASHINGTON — The author of “50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America” says a recent online attack by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin may have helped propel his book sales on Amazon.com’s “Best-Sellers List.”

Michael Huttner, founder of grassroots organizing group Progress Now, co-wrote the 236-page community action handbook with Jason Salzman, after they kept hearing people in the progressive community ask “What can we do now?” following President Obama’s inauguration last January.

Huttner told Raw Story the book is “a small contribution” to “ultimately helping people all across the country and in every community to have practical ways they can change their community, their state, the country and maybe even the world.”

Malkin notes Huttner’s day job as head of Progress Now, which she describes as “a Democrat group of non-profit satellites funded with start-up money from billionaire George Soros and the Democracy Alliance — whose board members include SEIU International Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger and ACORN embezzlement cover-upper Drummond Pike.” The non-profit status of groups like the Progress Now affiliates, despite links to the Democratic Party, have enraged many conservatives.

On August 31st, before Huttner’s book had been released, Malkin called it “a bid to dislodge conservative authors” that sought to energize “every nutroots activist” and “Obama cultists.”

Huttner says the week following Malkin’s attack, his book jumped to number 28 on Amazon’s best-sellers list. It now sits at # 32, 097 on the best-sellers list, but ranks #23 on the Human Rights best-sellers list and #24 on the leadership best-sellers list.

“She attacked us very personally and quite frankly it has brought some attention to the book,” Huttner told Raw Story. “If you look at our online reviews, you’ll see two types of ratings–5 star ratings from a bunch of different folks and 1 star ratings that often happened the day after she posted her attack. Some of the people even acknowledge they haven’t read the book.”

He also dismisses her criticism of him as a “Soros-tied author” and says Progress Now is “honored to have the support” of Soros’ Open Society Institute, “which continues to help so many important causes throughout the country and around the world.”

Partisan book wars are nothing new. In 2003, the Boston Globe noted that five liberal books made The New York Times’s top 15 hard-cover nonfiction bestsellers, “mounting what some sales specialists see as a left-wing assault on the conservatives’ decade-long hold on popular culture.”

The paper reported that book publishing, talk radio and opinion mags had largely been “dominated by right-wing political titles, including polemics by the leading radio and television pundits. The airwaves, bestseller lists, and the opinion press were widely viewed as links in a network that helped prompt investigations of President Clinton and assisted the elections of a Republican House, Senate, and presidency.”

Huttner told Raw Story that although his book is intended for a liberal audience, it really could be used by anybody seeking to learn how to use new media like Facebook, YouTube and cell phones to advocate for any cause.

“To be quite frank, almost every one of the actions in there is a practical strategy and tactics, and quite frankly as much as I’d like to say they are all progressive , they are really more civic engagement and successful political organizing tactics that we’ve had work in Colorado and elsewhere,” Huttner told Raw Story. “The ultimate goal is getting people engaged in the conversation. This is a practical handbook on how people can create change and empower themselves.”

Malkin did not respond to Raw Story’s request for comment.

‘I don’t give a f*ck about Michelle Malkin,’ Meghan McCain Tweets

By Ron Brynaert Months after feuding with Ann Coulter, Meghan McCain, the media’s favorite new go-to for quotes, appears to be at war with another prominent conservative female pundit. Even if the lady doth protest by Twitter.

Thursday afternoon, Michelle Malkin was asked during a chat at Politico’s The Arena by moderator Fred Barbash, “Who would you say is the most insightful liberal political figure or commentator out there right now? Who is a conservative political figure of commentator who you think needs to shut up?”

“Hmmm…interesting question,” Malkin replied. “On the right: Less Meghan McCain. On the left? Tommy Christopher is an honest lib.”

Apparently, folks began Tweeting Meghan McCain about the Malkin insult.

So, the daughter of the 2008 Republican presidential candidate Tweeted back, “chill people, I don’t give a fuck about @michellemalkin.”

In March, Malkin wrote that the “trouble with Meghan McCain” was that - like her non-ideological father - she “inherited the notion that playing the ‘maaaaverick’ imparts her with moral authority and credibility as a fresh voice for the GOP.”

After getting f-bombed via Twitter, it’s doubtful that Malkin will raise her opinion any.

But some conservative followers of McCain on Twitter aren’t pleased with her choice of words.

“Now that is a disgusting thing to say….I just stopped following you..,” a user named sdelaurier Tweeted.

Quillspiller Tweets, “If you really didn’t give a f____ about Malkin, you wouldn’t have cussed.”

On the other hand, a few on the left, apparently, are Tweeting support.

“I’m a Democrat proudly (for social reasons), but if more Republicans were like you, it’d be hard for me to stay Dem,” a user named kmhollan Tweets, while a user named aeligature notes, “Well, @michellemalkin would have all Muslims thrown in internment camps. How can you take her seriously about anything?”
