MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — As voters here head to the polls today to help decide who will be the GOP’s presidential nominee, some voters are turning away from front-runner Mitt Romney because of his ties to Wall Street and history at Bain Capital. Speaking outside campaign events and polling places, voters told ThinkProgress they worry Romney is a “corporate raider,” who wants to “turn the government into a corporation,” and who says he wants to create jobs in the U.S. but has outsourced them to other countries. NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE REP. GOES BIRTHER, CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO OBAMA’S ELIGIBILITY FOR PRESIDENCY

New Hampshire state Rep. Laurence Rappaport (R) and a small group of lawmakers have called on the state’s attorney general to launch and investigation into whether President Obama is eligible to appear on the state’s presidential ballot in 2012. The issue, according to Rappaport, is whether Obama is a natural-born citizen of the U.S. New Hampshire’s Ballot Law Commission has already rejected another similar effort, and Rappaport told the Associated Press that Attorney General Michael Delaney hasn’t responded to the request.

New Hampshire Defunds Planned Parenthood, Tells Women: If You Want To Party, ‘Don’t Ask Me To Pay For It’

“Planned Parenthood has stopped providing birth control pills and other contraception in New Hampshire after the state’s executive council rejected up to $1.8 million in funding for the group” because it also provides privately-funded abortions. After losing its contract — which paid for education, distributing contraception, and the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections — the centers have “turned away 20 to 30 patients a day who have arrived to refill their birth control prescriptions”:

Last year, Planned Parenthood provided contraception for 13,242 patients in New Hampshire, [CEO of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England Steve]Trombley said. The organization also provided 6,112 breast exams, 5,548 screenings for cervical cancer and 18,858 tests for sexually transmitted infections. If the contract is not renewed, Planned Parenthood will drastically reduce its services, Trombley said. The organization employs 80 people in New Hampshire. [...]

Stephanie Hiltunen, a 26-year-old who lives in Hanover, said she picked up a monthlong supply of birth control last Thursday, the day before the center stopped dispensing it. But future refills will require an inconvenient trip to Enfield, she said. Hiltunen said she would like to have a child but cannot afford it, and she worries there will be a public cost if contraception is inaccessible to low-income women.

“If they can’t afford to have a baby, then we’ll be paying for them in the long run,” she said.

Some women have told the center that the will likely “stop taking birth control because they cannot afford the higher prices charged by pharmacies” and an estimated 70 percent don’t have insurance to cover the prescriptions.

New Hampshire’s Council rejected the contract in a 3-2 vote, arguing that taxpayers should not fund abortions or so-called irresponsible behavior. “I am opposed to abortion,” said Raymond Wieczorek, a council member who voted against the contract. “I am opposed to providing condoms to someone. If you want to have a party, have a party, but don’t ask me to pay for it.”

Two N.H. Republicans quit posts over GOP attacks on workers

Two Republican lawmakers in New Hampshire have resigned their leadership posts, citing deeply held disagreements with the GOP's recent attacks on organized labor.

State Rep. Matt Quandt and House Whip Tim Copeland both said they simply could not sit idly by as pensions and bargaining rights were rolled back.

"[It] is evident now that pro-worker Republican views like mine are not respected under this leadership team," Quandit said,according to reporter Aaron Sandborn with the Sea Coast Online.

"What they're doing, going after the public employees and pensions just isn't right," Copeland reportedly added.

Republicans in New Hampshire have pushed a pension reform plan that would significantly reduce benefits paid out to those who retire after Jan. 1, 2012. It also requires higher contributions from employees and extends how long they must pay into their pensions before taking advantage of them.

While the deal has not yet passed, negotiators are trying to strike a compromise that would allow public workers to remain unionized and bargain with employers.

Racist New Hampshire State House Candidate Advises Tea Party To Be More Open With Its Racism

By Alex Seitz-Wald While the tea party movement is desperately trying to fight off charges of “racist elements” from the NAACP, Ryan J. Murdough, a Republican candidate for New Hampshire State House, has no qualms about expressing his views on race. “It is time for white people in New Hampshire and across the country to take a stand,” Murdough wrote in a letter to the Concord Monitor titled “We must preserve our racial identity”:

For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state. Affirmative action, illegal and legal non-white immigration, anti-white public school systems, and an anti-white media have done much damage to the United States of America and especially New Hampshire. It is time for white people in New Hampshire and across the country to take a stand. We are only 8 percent of the world’s population and we need our own homeland, just like any other non-white group of people deserve their own homeland.

Murdough is running as a Republican because it’s easier to get on the ballot, but the party immediately “disowned him as a candidate on their ticket,” calling him a “despicable racist” and a “fraud.” But Murdough has no love lost for the GOP, complaining, “they’ve sold white people out.”

It’s unclear whether Murdough is a tea partier, but in the comments section of the Monitor’s website, where Murdough is very active, he wrote, “I think the Tea Party movement is doing great things.” His rhetoric in the comments often reflects that of the movement, and he repeatedly advises the the tea party to “embrace the fact [that] there is a racial aspect to the movement.” “White people need to stop wasting time arguing about how they are not racist,” he said in one comment, adding in another:

The Tea Party at its core is all about race but most of the Tea Partiers do not even realize it. They downplay the race issue every chance they get because they are afraid of being perceived as racist.

He also called on them to stop the “jewish appeasing.” “If the Republicans continue to put out weak, israel first, zionist, anti white, neo cons, the tea party will be for nothing,” Murdough warned.

In an interview, Murdough denied that he is a racist, explaining, “I can’t really be a racist, because I don’t hate them. I just don’t want to live around areas that are heavily, predominantly non-white.” Still, Murdough believes Martin Luther King was a prostitute-chasing Communist who was just “out for the black man,” and that Abraham Lincoln was one of history’s worst presidents because “[h]e waged war against the South.” He’s also worried about white “genocide,” noting, “Nobody is flooding Africa with non-Africans.” But Murdough is an equal opportunity bigot, saying, “no group of people has exploited their victimhood as much as Jews have.” “Technically, they’re a different race than white people.” He’s also homophobic, writing that gay parenting is “child abuse” and that “Homosexuals want to get married because they hate Christ.” Murdough acknowledges his stance on race and “Jewish issues” is controversial, but claimed he has DNA evidence to support him.

Murdough is the state chairman of American Third Position (A3P), “a fledgling political party…with the aim of uniting disaffected racists,” the Southern Poverty Law Center reports. Last week, the group proudly announced its “triple-digit donation” (i.e. less than $1,000) to a fund established by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) to defend her state’s draconian new immigration law. M.C.L Comment: I'll give this douche credit, he's not sugar coating what's he's about. This is a test book example of how the ruling elite on the right use race to divide the country, this guy and people like him won't blame corporations for shipping their jobs out of the country labor or exploiting Mexican immigrants for cheap labor, they won't blame the trust fund babies who barely made it out of high school for taking up a spot they thought their little spawn should received and when there's a clear case of the country club style of affirmative action they won't be too upset either.
