16-Year-Old Girl Who Challenged Bachmann To Debate Receiving Threats Of Violence, Rape

Last week, ThinkProgress reported on high school sophomore Amy Myers, who challenged history-challenged Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) to a public debate on the basic facts of the U.S. Constitution. “Rep. Bachmann, the frequent inability you have shown to accurately and factually present even the most basic information about the United States led me” to the challenge, she wrote in an open letter to the tea party doyenne. Unfortunately, it seems some Bachmann fans haven’t taken Myers’ challenge kindly and are now threatening the teenage girl with violence:
After it started getting media attention last weekend, commenters on tea party websites have threatened to publish her home address and some have threatened violence.
The 16-year-old from Cherry Hill says several commenters have called her a “whore.”
Her father, Wayne, says he’s concerned for his daughter’s safety.
The Cherry Hill Courier Press reports that others “threatened violence, including rape” and that “several commenters threatened to publish the Myers’ home address.” Amy’s school has reportedly also received “threatening mail.” The newspaper had planned to do a video interview with the girl, who is running for a student government position, but “a somewhat panicked-sounding Wayne Myers phoned to cancel, citing the alleged threats.” “They’re targeting me just because I’m challenging Bachmann,” Amy said. A Facebook group called “Ask Rep. Michele Bachmann to Debate Amy Myers” already has over 7,000 supporters.

Motor City Liberal Comment: This proves the average male tea party member has a dick about the size of a ant's body, because a 16 year old girl wants to debate the dumbest member of the United States House of Representatives you want to issue that girl threats of rape and death.  Really aren't you the same pieces of shit that were threatening CBS with boycotts because David Letterman for making jokes about Willow Palin? But threatening a 16 year old girl with rape and death is ok because she has the nerve to ask that retard Michele Bachmann to a debate is ok in your books.

How about this you chicken shits in the tea party pick on someone your own size? Meaning I don't mind meeting Mr.and Mrs. tea bag American in Detroit, I'll be the big angry black dude with the hockey stick and baseball bat.

California Lawmaker Receives Racist Death Threat Warning ‘Rush Limbaugh Will Kick Your Ch-nk Ass’

By Alex Seitz-Wald

Last week, California State Sen. Leland Yee (D) called on right-wing hate radio host Rush Limbaugh to apologize for mocking Chinese President Hu Jintao and the Chinese language by speaking gibberish “ching chong chang” Chinese on his radio program. Yee, who is Chinese-American and chairs the state Senate Select Committee on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs, said Limbaugh owes the Chinese-American community an apology for his “pointless and ugly offense.” Naturally, Limbaugh did not apologize, and instead railed against Yee the following day on his radio, calling him out repeatedly by name.

Yee’s call for civility did not sit well with one Limbaugh fan, who responded by sending several racist death threats to Yee’s office this week. “Rush Limbaugh will kick your chink ass and expose you for the fool you are,” the faxes read, threatening him with “death” (warning, contains racial expletives):

As the San Francisco Chronicle notes, “The faxes include a drawing of a U.S. flag-adorned pickup truck towing a noose that is looped around what appears to be a caricature head of President Barack Obama.”

The state Senate sergeant-at-arms and the California state police are investigating the threats. And yesterday, Yee called for an advertising boycott of Limbaugh’s show.

The faxes contained “similar graphics and language” as faxes Yee received in April, after he sought to expose how much former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) was being paid to speak at a state university and whether tax-payer dollars were being used to pay her fee.

UPDATEAsked about the seriousness of the threat, Yee spokesperson Adam Keigwi told ThinkProgress today that while the state senator's office has been targeted before, "in light of what of what happened in Arizona, we have to take these things seriously now." Yee has begun an online petition to support Limbaugh boycott effort, and has already attracted over 500 signatures. Keigwi also forwarded an extremely offensive voicemail left at Yee's office strewn with racial slurs and expletives in response to Yee's boycott call. Listen here (warning: contains very graphic language):

NAACP receives racist death threat: ‘The streets will run red with your blood.’

By Zaid Jilani Last week, the NAACP passed a resolution asking the tea party movement to repudiate any racism within its ranks. Since then, right-wing pundits and politicians have pounced on the civil rights organization, attacking it for pointing out that there is some racism present in the tea party movement. Now, the NAACP reveals that it has “received a number of death threats at local units and chapters around the country” following the passage of its tea party resolution. In one particularly explicit and offensive death threat that the NAACP posted on its blog, a caller references the controversy over the New Black Panthers case and asks, “You want a race war? You got one!” He repeatedly uses the N-word to refer to African Americans, and says that they are a “have-not bunch of bums.” Towards the end of the call, the man warns, “The streets will run red with your blood.” Listen to it (Warning: the language used is disturbing and offensive):

The death threat comes at a time when many conservatives have denied that the NAACP and African Americans face any racism from the far right. Conservative blog Dakota Voice wrote just today, “A whole article full of lies against the Tea Party was presented by [NAACP president] Ben Jealous in his op-ed for CNN online. Since adopting the resolution against the Tea Party, he says they’re getting all kinds of death threats. Yeah, sure.”

Report: Stabenow one of several members of Congress to receive death threats

By TODD SPANGLER WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan was one of several members of Congress who received death threats last year, according to a report released today by Politico. The Washington, D.C.-based publication reviewed FBI documents related to the threats which were released under a Freedom of Information Act request. In the meantime, the U.S. Senate’s sergeant at arms, Terrance Gainer, told Politico threats against members of Congress were up 300% in the first few months of 2010, as the health care reform legislation was passed.

In the case of Stabenow, a Democrat, Politico said the records showed a man left voice mail messages for her at several of her Michigan offices in February 2009.

“We’re gonna (expletive) get you,” the man said in one message, the publication reported. “We’re gonna get you with a lot of (expletive) bolt action. Like we did RFK; like we did MLK. We know who you are. We’ll get you.”

According to the records, FBI agents traced the calls back to a 54-year-old Texas man who once had many handguns, shotguns and rifles. He told law enforcement agents that he was “really, really drunk” when he made the calls and was just “venting” over concerns of government overreach.

Stupak receives death threats after voting for health reform.

By Matt Corley

As ThinkProgress has chronicled, the passage of health care reform has resulted in a series of vandalism incidents and threats aimed at lawmakers who voted for the bill. Vandals have struck the Tuscon office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), the Monroe County Democratic Committee headquarters in upstate New York, Rep. Louise Slaughter’s (D-NY) Niagara Falls office, the Knox County Democratic headquarters in Ohio, and the Sedgwick County Democratic Party headquarters in Wichita, KS. Now, Politico reports that Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), an anti-abortion Democrat who held out his support for the legislation until Sunday, has received phone calls threatening his life:

Stupak, the Michigan Democrat whose last-minute compromise on abortion guaranteed passage of the bill Sunday, said callers have left messages for him saying, “You’re dead; we know where you live; we’ll get you.”

“My wife still can’t answer the phone,” Stupak told POLITICO Tuesday. The messages are “full of obscenities if she leaves it plugged in. In my office, we can’t get a phone out. It’s just bombarded.”

Stupak, a former police officer, said he’s not fazed by the threats or by the prospect of protests at his district office this weekend. “I’ve looked down barrels of guns,” he said. “I’ve talked my way out of it.”

Politico also reports that “Rep. Dennis Cardoza, a Blue Dog Democrat from California, said he’s gotten physical threats over health care reform.” “There are some folks that identified themselves as being members of the tea party [who] called, [and] my staff has gotten to know their names over time, and they have been very loud and very ugly,” Cardoza said. Additionally, the Capitol Hill newspaper notes that “Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) said he had to change his personal cell phone number after a Republican gave it out to health care opponents.” The chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party read Pomeroy’s cell phone number aloud on the stage of the North Dakota Republican convention.

Update Politico reports that "Law enforcement authorities are investigating an incident that occurred at the Virginia home of Rep. Tom Perriello’s (D-Va.) brother, whose address was publicized by tea party activists angry at the congressman’s vote for the health care bill." Law enforcement officials did not tell Politico any details of the incident, which appears to have occurred after "Mike Troxel, an organizer for the Lynchburg Tea Party, posted on his blog what he thought was the congressman’s address, encouraging tea party activists to 'drop by.'" M.C.L Comment: I guess in the pro-life movement telling people you hope they bleed from the ass and died is normal, if I have pro-life lurkers out there can you explain to me how can you call yourself pro-life and wish death to people that disagree with you? Frankly I dislike every aspect of the right wing movement from the pro-lifers, the gun nuts, the Christian Taliban, right wing radio show hosts, right wing bloggers, campus right wingers, tea baggers, Fox News and the Republican party but here's the difference between me and you, I don't want harm comes to those people who disagree with me. And Democrats need to take action either by pressing charges against these loons or call out the people who incite these loons.
