O’Reilly blames unwed black mothers for violent crimes

By Stephen C. Webster/Raw Story
During a Monday night rant on the conservative Fox News Channel, Republican opinion host Bill O’Reilly personally diagnosed the black community’s problems, lecturing that violent crime rate is due to “personal” choices made by single black mothers and insisting that more parental discipline and increasingly harsh penalties for drug crimes would be his preferred response.
In explaining all of this, O’Reilly used the recent acquittal of Florida neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman from the killing of 17-year-old African-American Tryavon Martin to attack the work of civil rights advocates who’ve pointed out in recent months that the drug war has caused a major racial disparity in arrest statistics, even when whites are statistically more likely to possess controlled substances.
“It was wrong for Zimmerman to confront Martin based on his appearance,” O’Reilly said. “But the culture that we have in this country does lead to criminal profiling because young black American men are so often involved in crime.”
“When was the last time you saw a public service ad telling young black girls to avoid becoming pregnant?” he asked. “Has President Obama done such an ad? How about [Jessie] Jackson or [Al] Sharpton? Has the Congressional Black Caucus demanded an ad like that? How about the PC pundits who work for NBC News?”
“White people don’t force black people to have babies out of wedlock,” O’Reilly concluded. “That’s a personal decision. A decision that has devastated millions of children and led to disaster, both socially and economically.”
He didn’t mention that one of President Obama’s signature policy accomplishments, health reform, includes a rule that requires universal, free access to birth control for men and women— a policy change actually proven to reduce the teen pregnancy rate, as opposed to conservatives’ preference for abstinence-based educational programs.
O’Reilly also failed to note that violent crime went down 8.7 percent across the nation between2009 and 2011, according to FBI statistics.

Limbaugh: I can use the word ‘nigga’ now because ‘it’s not racist’

By David Ferguson/Raw Story
In an especially unhinged racist rant on Tuesday, conservative entertainer Rush Limbaugh said that because of Zimmerman trial witness Rachel Jeantel’s post-trial CNN interview, he will now take it upon himself to use the “n-word,” but with an ‘a’ at the end because “it’s not racist.”
Limbaugh said that Trayvon “called Rachel and told her that he was being followed by a ‘creepy-ass cracka.’ We have now learned that that is a person acting like they are a police. Who like a security guard.” [sic]
He went on to play a segment from Jeantel’s interview with Piers Morgan, in which Jeantel said she wished she hadn’t said the word “nigga” on the stand.
“People, the whole world says that it’s a racist word,” she explained, but the term “nigga” is now used as a term of affection between young African-Americans, a way of defusing the power of the epithet “nigger,” which has been used by whites as the ultimate insult against people of color for generations.
Limbaugh declared that therefore it’s okay for him to use the word “nigga,” too.
“So, ‘nigga’ with an ‘a’ on the end,” he said. “Well, I think I can now. Isn’t that the point? Cos it’s not racist. That’s the point. I could be talking about a male. A Chinese male, the guy at the laundromat. I could be talking about a man. That’s what she said it means.”

Cold Stone Creamery employee fired after wishing Obama dead on Facebook

By Stephen C. Webster/Raw Story
A Turlock, California woman was fired from her job this week after publishing a racial slur to her Facebook account and wishing for President Barack Obama’s assassination.
The Cold Stone Creamery company said it spent much of Wednesday coping with the social media fallout from the comment, which was posted by former Cold Stone employee Denise Helms, 22.
Helms referred to Obama on her Facebook account as “the n*gger,” adding: “maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!”
“The employee is no longer w/the company,” a Twitter account for Cold Stone Creamery explained on Thursday. “We were as shocked as you were by her outrageous & completely unacceptable comments.”
Making a legitimate threat against the president is a felony crime, and all threats against the nation’s leader are investigated by the Secret Service.
Despite her racist comment, Helms swore to Fox 40 in Sacramento that she’s not actually racist herself. “I think I was just really upset, and it just kind of came out,” she claimed.
The night prior, she told Fox 40 that Obama getting assassinated wouldn’t be “something I would be upset about.”
Helms has since deleted her Facebook account.

ACLU: Emails From Author Of Arizona’s SB 1070 Prove Racial Motivation

Alex Brown/guest blogger for Think Progress
The ACLU of Arizona has released thousands of emails it says prove that SB 1070, Arizona’s controversial immigration law, was racially motivated. According to a report by the Arizona Republic, the emails, acquired through a public records request, are to and from the author of SB 1070, recalled Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce (R). The documents may help the ACLU to convince a federal judge to prevent the “show me your papers” section of SB 1070 from going into effect.
Key excerpts from the over 10,000 pages of emails include:
  • “Last week, Denver’s illegal aliens sang our national anthem in Spanish and bastardized the words of OUR country’s most sacred song.”
  • “Battles commence as Mexican nationalists struggle to infuse their men into American government and strengthen control over their strongholds. One look at Los Angeles with its Mexican-American mayor shows you Vincente Fox’s general Varigossa commanding an American city.”
  • “They create enclaves of separate groups that shall balkanize our nation into fractured nightmares of social unrest and poverty.”
  • “Corruption is the mechanism by which Mexico operates. Its people spawn more corruption wherever they go because it is their only known way of life.”
  • “Tough, nasty illegals and their advocates grow in such numbers that law and order will not subdue them. They run us out of our cities and states. They conquer our language and our schools. They render havoc and chaos in our schools.”
  • “We are much like the Titanic as we inbreed millions of Mexico’s poor, the world’s poor and we watch our country sink.”
One email, with a the subject line “What’s a racist?” included the following:
  • I’m racist because I don’t want to be taxed to pay for a prison population comprised of mainly Hispanics, Latinos, Mexicans or whatever else you wish to call them.”
  • I’m a racist because I believe the News Media has a duty to tell us the names and race of criminals.”
  • I’m a racist because I object to having to pay higher sales tax and property tax to build more schools for the illegitimate children of illegal aliens.”
  • I’m a racist because I dislike having to push one for English and/or listening to a message in Spanish.”
  • “Factual is not racial. Realism is not racism. The new definition of racist is anyone winning an argument with a liberal, minority, pacifist, bible banger, or moron.”
The part of SB 1070 that is currently being challenged by the ACLU is section 2(B), the “show me your papers” provision. The Supreme Court struck down three other provisions of the law earlier this summer, but left 2(B) intact, noting that there are potential constitutional problems with the section. The ACLU filed suit in federal court earlier this week contending that 2(B) unlawfully discriminates against Latinos and individuals of Mexican origin.
recent poll of registered Latino voters found that 66 percent of those polled oppose the Supreme Court’s decision to leave “show me your papers” intact, while only 29 percent approve. Seventy-nine percent of Latino voters are concerned about racial profiling, responding likely to the question “how likely is it that Latinos who are legal immigrants or U.S. citizens will get stopped or questioned by police?” And 70 percent believe that allowing police to check immigration status will not increase public safety.
