Bobby Jindal Has Completely Lost Touch With Reality

Last November, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) wrote a list of seven prescriptions for Republicans. These included "Reject identity politics," "Stop being the stupid party," and "Stop insulting the intelligence of voters."

Apparently he's forgotten.

Today, Jindal has a column — if you can call it that — in Politico, urging conservatives to reject calls for reform. He explains that if conservatives just stay where they are, voters will eventually come running back to them. Here's his reasoning:

At some point, the American public is going to revolt against the nanny state and the leftward march of this president. I don’t know when the tipping point will come, but I believe it will come soon.

Why?

Because the left wants: The government to explode; to pay everyone; to hire everyone; they believe that money grows on trees; the earth is flat; the industrial age, factory-style government is a cool new thing; debts don’t have to be repaid; people of faith are ignorant and uneducated; unborn babies don’t matter; pornography is fine; traditional marriage is discriminatory; 32 oz. sodas are evil; red meat should be rationed; rich people are evil unless they are from Hollywood or are liberal Democrats; the Israelis are unreasonable; trans-fat must be stopped; kids trapped in failing schools should be patient; wild weather is a new thing; moral standards are passé; government run health care is high quality; the IRS should violate our constitutional rights; reporters should be spied on; Benghazi was handled well; the Second Amendment is outdated; and the First one has some problems too.

I'll grant Jindal one thing: He certainly didn't ration the red meat in that paragraph.

This is a big reason the Republican party can't change. So many of its members have a warped vision of what liberalism is. They think it's something so mind-bendingly awful that they cannot fathom how voters could willingly choose it. It must be some mistake. And sooner or later, mistakes get fixed.

Back in Louisiana, Jindal has an approval rating of 38%. His popularity took a nosedive this year because he pushed a plan to repeal the state's income tax and replace it with a higher and broader sales tax, which would have meant a big tax cut for the wealthy financed by higher taxes on the poor and middle class.

He had to withdraw the plan because he couldn't get it through the legislature, even though it has a Republican majority. It was just too unpopular — the same poll that found Jindal at 38% found only 27% support for his tax plan.

Yet Jindal does not seem to have gotten the message: Voters are unimpressed with an economic agenda that claims the best way to create jobs and grow prosperity is to cut taxes on the rich.

The liberal economic agenda is flawed, but it's not as flawed as the Republican agenda of tax cuts, spending cuts, and hope. Republicans won't grasp that until they get past the idea that Barack Obama is a red-meat rationer who's trying to destroy the economy.

Cuccinelli Endorses Running Mate, But Won’t Defend Anything He’s Ever Said

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R), the Republican nominee for governor, endorsed his newly-nominated running mate, Bishop E.W. Jackson Sr., but refused to say whether he agreed with Jackson’s myriad controversial comments.

Cuccinelli told a crowd in Abingdon, VA on Monday that he wants Jackson, as Lt. Governor, breaking ties in the currently split Virginia Senate: “I don’t need to know what the subject matter that’s going to tie up 20-20 that the LG can vote on will be. I’m confident that we’re going to get the right vote every single time out of E.W. Jackson. So I’m glad he’s on this ticket, too.”

But in a statement to the Virginia Pilot, Cuccinelli also said he would not answer questions about his new running mate’s views. “We are not defending any of our running mates’ statements now or in the future,” he noted, adding “The people of Virginia need to get comfortable with each candidate individually.”

Given the panic and criticism from some Republicans over Jackson’s surprise victory at Saturday’s Republican Party of Virginia nominating convention, it is unsurprising that Cuccinelli wants to keep his running mate at arm’s length. But their arch-conservative views on key issues seem largely identical:

Planned Parenthood	Jackson has attacked Planned Parenthood, calling it “more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was.”	Cuccinelli has frequently attackedPlanned Parenthood, accusing them of having an “open willingness to participate in human trafficking,” and has suggested thefact that abortion clinics in Virginia are in urban areas with large African American populations is an example of white racism.
Health care	Jackson does not believe Virginia should comply with the Obamacare law, claiming, “Virginia is duty bound to DEFY NOT COMPLY with any federal encroachment on the rights and freedom of our people. Working families across the Commonwealth are disappointed that a Republican led General Assembly decided to COMPLY and NOT DEFY a law that will greatly hurt the economy and health care options affecting all Virginians.”	After Cuccinelli’s failed challengeto Obamacare in federal court, hesuggested Virginia might not need to comply with the law: “It’s not like there’s criminal penalties out there — it becomes a power struggle,” he noted, adding, “There have been periods of time when states have just thrown their hands up and said, ‘We’re not going to do this’… It’s still possible, but it’s outside the expected legal structure.
President Obama	Jackson has attacked President Obama for having “Muslim sensibilities,” claiming Obama “sees the world and Israel from a Muslim perspective.” He called Obama an anti-Semite, blaming “his Muslim associations and his long period of mentorship under Jeremiah Wright.”	Cuccinelli dabbled in birtherism in 2010, saying, “Someone is going to have to come forward with nailed down testimony that he was born in place B, wherever that is. You know, the speculation is Kenya. And that doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility.” He quicklybacked down.

For his part, Jackson sees Cuccinelli as an ideological soul mate. In a March posting on hiscampaign website, entitled “Ken Cuccinelli Is Right,” he wrote: “As an American and a Virginian whose ancestors were deemed by some to be less than human, I am proud to stand with a man who has the courage to speak to our consciences. As the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor, I will be proud to help Ken Cuccinelli bring common sense values and governance to Richmond. If we are elected in November, KEN AND I WILL FIGHT FOR EVERY VIRGINIAN’S RIGHT TO LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.”

State suspends gun permit for CEO who said he would ‘start killing people’ over gun control

The CEO of a weapons and tactical training company has had his gun permit suspended by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security after he published a video on YouTube in which he threatened to “start killing people” if President Obama pushes forward with increased gun control, reported News Channel 5.

James Yeager, who heads the Tennessee-based company Tactical Response, issued a video Thursday in which he said, “I was mad when I said it” and “probably allowed my mouth to overrun my logic” but does not retract his statements. He admits he cut his controversial video by eliminating the part where he says he will “start killing people.” He claims he does not “condone anybody doing anything rash” or “committing any kind of felonies, up to and including aggravated assaults and murders, unless its necessary. Right now, it’s not necessary.”

In addition, more videos of Yeager are on YouTube.

He published a video on Oct. 30, 2012 titled, “Who is James Yeager?” which appears to be a advertisement for his company.

In it, he says, “If the world collapses, not only am I going to survive, I’m going to be the fucking king.”

“I’m James Yeager, and I’m prepared for everything,” he says while holding a large gun.

He claims to have enough food, guns and medical supplies to last a year but that he has told his daughters not to reveal the stockpile. “And they would ask ‘Why?’ And I say, ‘You want me shooting your friends in the face?’”

He shows two “AK”s that he has, then an assortment of weapons including two AR-15s and a grenade launcher.

Training with him is not for the lighthearted, he argues, as “the guns are real, the bullets are real, and the danger is real.” He then shows the “team room,” which he describes as a “frat house, but with machine guns.”

Another video, published in July of 2011, is an audition video for One Man Army, a TV series on the Discovery Channel.

It begins with Yeager shooting an AK-47 machine gun. He claims at one point to be standing in front of his house, where his door bears the greeting, “Welcome To The House That Guns Built,” and he says that “every dollar I have earned as an adult comes from the caring of a gun.”

He says his “winning strategy, both physically and intellectually, is about having a fighting mindset” and says that “all the things that make us a superior warrior are what I try to use in every aspect of my life.”

In the original video that Raw Story reported on Thursday, which brought scrutiny to Yeager, he said in response to his belief that President Obama may attempt to enforce gun control by executive order, ” I’m not letting anybody take my guns! If it goes one inch further, I’m going to start killing people.”

UPDATE (7:02 p.m.): The Department of Homeland Security is allegedly investigating whether Yeager’s displayed “criminal intent” in the video published on Wednesday, according to theSouthern Poverty Law Center.
