Steve Schmidt, the former campaign adviser to 2008 Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), told a CNN host on Thursday that the current Republican field of 2012 candidates is little more than a “reality show” presenting a “mosaic of nonsense” that serious candidates have to contend with.
“In there somewhere is a serious campaign waiting to get started and I think, when you look at the Republican field right now, you’re looking at three serious candidates and they are Governor Pawlenty, Governor Hunstman, and Governor Romney,” he said.
