GOP’s Elimination of Alternative Energy Credits Hurts Job Creation
LANSING – President Barack Obama visits Michigan today to tout the success of the job-creating advanced battery federal tax credits. Federal credits and grants have helped to create thousands of good-paying jobs in Michigan and have made the Great Lakes State the nation’s leader in the fast-growing auto advanced battery sector.
“President Obama and state and federal Democrats are working to create good-paying jobs in Michigan while Governor Snyder and the Republicans are working to destroy jobs,” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer said. “These federal tax credits and grants have been a proven success – helping to lure new businesses and thousands of good-paying jobs to Michigan.”
“Governor Snyder and legislative Republicans have chosen to eliminate credits like these which will cost Michigan jobs,” added Brewer. “President Obama is working to fix our economy while the Republicans seem dead set on destroying it.”
A new study shows that Michigan leads the nation in “green” auto jobs with nearly 40,000 workers. The study also concludes that Michigan has great growth potential.
