Occupy Detroit – Make Their Voices Heard

From CBS Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) – Similar in theme to the protest Occupy Wall Street –originating in New York, organizers of Occupy Detroit began gathering at the Coleman A Young Municipal Building Friday afternoon and plan to march to Grand Circus Park to occupy the area indefinitely.
WWJ’s Marie Osborne reports from the downtown Detroit where hundreds are gathering in protest of Wall Street bailouts and corporate greed.
“It is NOT a class for welfare it’s a democracy, people got to speak – and raise some hell,” said one protestor in Detroit on Friday.
One issued raised by protestors is that the voice for the majority of Americans is not being heard.
“Government is controlled by corporate America and that’s on both sides of the party, it’s not a Democrat issue, it’s not a Republican issue. It’s an issue of fairness,” said another protestor.
The causes are numberous say protestors: the war in Afghanistan, funding for education, bank bailouts, taxation, with most saying that it is time to get the message out.
“I think America is waking up, we’re going to take it back,” said one woman at the protest.
