Politico recently obtained a 72-page RNC Power Point presentation suggesting that their own fundraisers prey on donors’ “fear” of socialism. The seemingly Tea Party-inspired documents also depict President Obama as The Joker and Democratic leaders as part of an “evil empire.” “How do you defend this?” Fox News’ Megyn Kelly asked RNC chair Micheal Steele today. “You can’t defend it,” Steele replied, adding that the presentation is “inappropriate.” Yet, he went on to defend it anyway:
STEELE: It was unfortunate. It was, you know those are images that were pulled off the internet. They’ve been out in the public domain for a while and a staffer was putting together a presentation for a small group of about 9 or 10 folks and thought they would intersperse their presentation with humorous shots. [...] It was stuff that was pulled off the web that was inserted into a presentation to members of a finance team. It did not go out publicly.
Steele later begged Kelly to change the conversation. “Can we not raise this to the level of the health care debate? Please? This is an internal matter,” Steele pleaded. Watch it:
